Must I be a certain age or reside in the United States?

Yes, clients must be at least 18 years old. In an effort to simplify the online shopping and return process, Smoothyblues (SB) restricts its client base to the United States.

How will I communicate with my designer?

SB utilizes a separate online interactive design platform, Designfiles, to communicate and deliver all digital designs. Clients will be required to create a Designfiles account and will be responsible for keeping passwords secure. If you notice any account activity that is not yours, email SB immediately. 

What are the first steps?

Booking a discovery call to speak with SB is the first required step.  First, we’ll talk about your goals and see if we’re a good fit. 

It is necessary to purchase a package in order to start a project. The process: Select a package, submit your payment, and complete the design questionnaire. 

What’s the difference between a 2-D design and a 3-D design?

When presenting digital designs to clients, SB will use a 3-D layering format and/or a 2-D format, depending on the package selected. Initial Designs will be delivered in 2-D where products are neatly arranged to present a concept. They are not meant to resemble an actual picture of a room. Instead, they tell the story of a design concept. A Final Design will be presented in either a polished 2-D version or a 3-D layering format. 3-D layering allows a room to come alive by layering products to look more like a real room. SB assures clients all design boards will be beautiful, whether they are 2-D or 3-D layered. Several examples of each can be viewed in the SB Portfolio.

How long does it take to receive my design concepts?

Each package includes an estimated timeframe necessary for SB to deliver initial designs, but usually within 2-4 weeks (check out delivery estimates here). Day one will begin only after SB receives all information from the questionnaire, including photos and dimensions of your room as well as any additional questions SB may have for a client are answered. Very often initial designs will be delivered sooner than estimated. Although rare, circumstances may arise that could prevent SB from delivering a project on time (internet disruption, etc.). If this should occur, SB will reach out to a client as soon as possible to arrange for a new delivery date.

Will I be able to ask questions or request design changes?

Yes, SB offers post-design support for all packages.  If you purchase the Smooth Choice or Smooth Ultra packages, you may request some changes. Please note: Smooth Mini package does not include a design change service. 

A client will have a designated number of days to communicate through an online interactive design platform in order to request individual new item changes (for example: 1 area rug, 1 art piece, 1 furniture piece; Smooth Choice/3 items; Smooth Ultra/6 items). Clients may also use this time to ask questions. In addition, during this designated direct-messaging time, clients may swap out items from other 2-D designs or the awesome alternatives boards until they’re completely satisfied. SB will make the best effort to respond to change requests and questions within one day. 

Is it possible to purchase an additional design concept or floor plan?

Absolutely! These à la carte services are available for an additional charge:  1 floor plan or 1 2D design concept.  

Are my shopping list prices locked in?

Occasionally shopping list prices change between the time a design is delivered and when a client decides to make a purchase. In addition, although not all purchases will be subject to tax, shipping, or freight, a client needs to be aware that an SB shopping list does not include these extra charges.

Am I responsible for purchasing and returns?

Yes, a client will be responsible for all merchandise purchasing and returns. SB will not be responsible for merchandise damages or dissatisfaction of any kind. A client should know that online photos of furniture finishes, fabrics, wallpaper, and paint may be different from the actual product. With this in mind, it is recommended to order samples whenever possible. Further, SB recommends testing paint colors on a wall before purchasing. SB also asks clients to submit accurate room measurements in their design questionnaire. SB is not responsible for furniture fitting into elevators, doorways, hallways or stairways. All SB merchandise suggestions are based on measurements supplied by you.

What happens if some of my items are out of stock?

Since Shopping List merchandise will sometimes become unavailable, SB encourages a client to request a project when there is a sufficient budget and time available. SB, however, is pleased to offer a courtesy service which will allow a client to reach out within 60 days after their project end date in order to request replacement items.

Can I place my project on hold?

Of course, SB understands life happens. If there is a need to pause your project, it will be necessary for a client to contact SB before the project’s designated end date. The client must submit a written request to resume the project within 90 days after the project was paused. Failure to do so will result in the closure of a client’s project. SB will send a termination of project notice through email.

Will SB refund me the cost of my package?

Sorry, but due to the nature of this service, receiving a refund will not be possible as SB initiates the design process right away. All charges are a one-time consultation fee. However, be assured that SB will work very hard on every project as customer satisfaction is ALWAYS #1. One exception to the Refund Policy: if SB finds it necessary to cease working on a project before the project is completed, a client will receive a full refund for their original payment. Should this situation arise, SB will reach out to a client via email. A client’s refund will show as a credit on their credit card statement.

Which rooms in my house will SB be able to help me with?

SB creates designs for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, nurseries, offices, entryways, family rooms, and hallways; SB is, however, happy to offer limited suggestions for bathroom/kitchen hardware, paint colors, accessories, and decor for an additional charge (see Add-on package). 

Are there other important facts I should know?

Yes, SB is a design consulting service only. SB does not sell merchandise. If a client decides to purchase suggested merchandise, all connections will be between the vendor and the client. Services are restricted to delivering digital design consultations through the online interactive platform, Designfiles, with one exception: in-home consultation. This package adds the designer coming into a home within select VT/NH towns in order to measure, consult, and take photos. (Please note: the designer will be accompanied by an assistant and will, ultimately, be in charge of determining whether or not a home consultation is possible). No construction, electrical or plumbing advice will be included or implied with any package. If a client feels they are in need of renovations or construction, SB suggests contacting a licensed professional for advice. Any SB floor plans are for design purposes only-not construction. 

Although SB occasionally offers color or style suggestions for wall-to-wall carpet, flooring and custom blinds, they are only suggestions and will not be included in a client’s shopping list.

SB may receive a commission on some merchandise on the Vibe Shop and Genre Blog pages.

The website utilizes a few free images from Shutterstock and sometimes uses empty room background images for designs, all of which are designated as free downloads. If there is something SB has missed, please send an email immediately, and any image will be taken down right away.

SB adds links to a YouTube video. They are just links, but if any music group should be unhappy with this link being included on the SB website, please email SB right away and the link will be swiftly removed. Please note: YouTube videos may include ads. These ads DO NOT represent Smoothyblues’ opinions.

SB encourages clients and other fans to share SB designs and design advice with friends, family, and perhaps other interior designers. However, SB asks that you remember to give SB appropriate credit. Thank you kindly!
